This is an original hand-painted Tibetan Thangka depicting Sahasrabhuja (1000-Armed) Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. The painting is carefully oil-varnished, giving it added protection, depth, and a soft, natural shine.
Avalokiteshvara represents pure compassion. Among all Bodhisattvas, he is one of the most loved and widely worshipped figures in Buddhism. His many arms and eyes show his ability to see the suffering of countless beings and help them at the same time.
In early Buddhist traditions, Avalokiteshvara was most often depicted in masculine form. In China and Japan, he is often seen as feminine and honored as the “mother of the human race.” Buddhist teachings do not limit Avalokiteśvara to any gender. His compassion goes beyond form, culture, and identity, offering comfort and protection to all beings.
This Thangka is painted on handmade cotton canvas using gold and natural stone colors. After painting, a traditional oil varnish is applied. This method strengthens the artwork, deepens the colors, and helps preserve it over time. Oil-varnished Thangkas are valued for their rich look and long life.
This painting is ideal for:
Meditation and prayer space
Buddhist altar
Spiritual wall décor
Collectors of authentic Himalayan art
This is a master-quality original painting, not a print or reproduction.
