This is an original masterpiece, high-quality Green Tara Tibetan Thangka Painting. Green Tara is revered as one of the most popular goddesses in Buddhism. She embodies the compassionate and miraculous deeds of all the Buddhas and provides protection and assistance to anyone who faces challenges in their lives. Her vow to work tirelessly until all suffering is eliminated by taking on a woman’s body makes her a symbol of virtuous and enlightened activity.
Green is the color of nature and flourishing life, which signifies her energetic and vivacious personality. She is typically depicted as a young, beautiful woman with a touch of playfulness. She reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously and instead delights in a receptive mind and an open heart where her blessings and wisdom can naturally unfold.
Green Tara is often shown in a posture of graceful ease with her right leg extended, symbolizing her continuous activity, constant alertness, and readiness to spring into action to help those who call upon her. Her right hand is extended downward, palm open, with thumb and index finger touching, known as Varada Mudra or the gesture of granting wishes and protection. Her left hand is raised to shoulder height, fingers extended, and palm turned outward, in the gesture of granting refuge and freeing her from fear (Abhaya Mudra). Each hand holds the stem of a beautiful lotus flower that floats above her shoulder, symbolizing her radiant purity and power.
The Green Tara Mantra is "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha," which translates to "I prostrate to the Liberator, Mother of all the Victorious Ones."
