This artwork is an original hand-painted master-quality Akash Yogini Tibetan Thangka Painting. In the Newar Buddhist tradition, Vidyadhari, also known as Bijeshwori Devi or Akash Yogini, is considered the Knowledge Holder and one of the four principal aspects of Vajrayogini. The Bijeshwori temple in Kathmandu, situated above the western bank of the Bishnumati River on the road to Swyambhu, is dedicated to this presiding goddess and associated with the Indian Mahasiddha Maitripa. Akash Yogini is depicted in a flying posture, her red-colored body, three eyes, and specific hand gestures all carrying deep symbolic meaning. Her right-hand holds a curved knife known as Kartika, while her left hand contains a skull cup filled with blood. Additionally, she carries a Khatanga marked with a Vajra on her left shoulder, representing her eternal connection with her consort, Heruka. These symbolic attributes invite the viewer to delve into the spiritual significance of the artwork.
