**About Avalokiteshvara:**
Avalokiteshvara, also known as Chenrezig, embodies the boundless compassion of all Buddhas. Revered as the earthly incarnation of Amitabha Buddha, he serves as a protector during the gap between the historical Buddha, Shakyamuni, and the future Buddha, Maitreya. Celebrated across all branches of Buddhism, he is the patron Bodhisattva of Tibet, famous for his mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum." Chenrezig is committed to assisting all beings trapped in samsara, symbolizing wisdom and compassion for those who meditate on him.
**Gestures and Attributes:**
In this striking depiction, Chenrezig is presented in his four-armed form, representing his dynamic, compassionate energy. His hands hold the wish-fulfilling jewel, the Chintamani, as well as a crystal mala and a blooming lotus flower. Each element signifies the nurturing of pure compassion, illustrating the journey from suffering to enlightenment.
**Symbolism:**
On his left side, a gentle wild deer face symbolizes renunciation and compassion, stemming from a legend in which Chenrezig sacrificed himself to save a hunted deer. This deerskin, draped over his shoulder, reflects his deep empathy for all living beings.
