The Newari Paubha Painting of Lord Ganesha or Ganapati on Sriyantra is a beautiful work of art. The painting features Lord Ganesha or Ganapati, one of the most essential and revered gods in Hinduism, depicted on a mystical diagram known as Shriyantra or Sri Chakra. The ShriYantra is a sacred symbol consisting of nine interlocking triangles surrounding a central point called the Bindu, represented as a red dot. The triangles represent different aspects of the cosmos and the human body, such as the five elements, chakras, and the divine feminine.
When hung in a house, the Sri Yantra Ganesha is believed to bring wealth, prosperity, and overall well-being. It is considered a powerful tool for meditation and manifestation. The Ganesha, also known as Vinayaka or Binayak, is worshipped as the remover of obstacles and the god of new beginnings. In Hinduism, he is often worshipped before religious ceremonies or rituals.
Paubhas are traditional paintings created by the Newar communities, who are the original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley. They are similar to Tibetan Thangkas and depict various religious themes such as deities, mandalas, and monuments. The Paubhas are not just paintings but objects of meditation; they are believed to have spiritual and healing powers.
