**Original Hand-Painted Tibetan Thangka Painting: Six-Armed Mahākāla**

Discover the beauty of this original, hand-painted Tibetan Thangka depicting the Six-Armed Mahākāla, also known as Kāla Bhairava. This stunning piece features a striking black and gold theme, showcasing a deity revered in both Hinduism and Tantric Buddhism. In Buddhism, Mahākāla is revered as a fierce divine protector, while in Hinduism, he is regarded as a powerful manifestation of Shiva and Vishnu, often depicted alongside the goddess Mahakāli.

**About Mahākāla:**
Mahākāla is celebrated as a guardian deity, portrayed in various forms that embody distinct qualities. The two-armed “Black-Cloaked Mahākāla” specifically protects the Karma Kagyu school, draped in the cloak of a māntrika, or “warlock.” His imagery, derived from the Nyingma school's terma, was adopted by the Karma Kagyu during the era of Karma Pakshi, the 2nd Karmapa Lama. Often depicted with his consort, Rangjung Gyalmo, Mahākāla is regarded as a primary protector, especially within the Karmapa lineage, with the Four-Armed Mahākāla as the primary protector.
