Hand-Painted Yellow Jambhala Kubera Newari Paubha Thangka | Buddhist Wealth Deity Art | Himalayan Meditation Painting
This is an original, hand-painted Newari Paubha Thangka depicting Yellow Jambhala, also known as Kubera, the revered god of wealth and abundance in Buddhist and Himalayan traditions. This sacred painting is created on handmade cotton canvas using traditional methods passed down through generations of Newar artists in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley.
Yellow Jambhala is worshipped as a Dharma Protector who removes the suffering of poverty and provides both material and spiritual prosperity. According to Buddhist sutras, when demons attempted to disturb Buddha Shakyamuni during his teachings, Jambhala appeared and protected him. In recognition of this fearless act, Buddha appointed Jambhala as a protector of the Dharma, granting him the role of assisting all beings who sincerely call upon him or chant his mantra.
In this Paubha, Yellow Jambhala is shown seated in a royal posture on a throne, richly adorned with silk garments, jewels, and a crown. In his right hand, he holds a bijapuraka (citron fruit), symbolizing abundance and fulfillment. In his left hand, he has a mongoose that continuously releases jewels and treasures, symbolizing the endless flow of prosperity and his victory over opposing forces, such as the nagas.
Newari Paubha paintings are deeply spiritual works of art, similar to Tibetan Thangkas, and are traditionally used for meditation, ritual practice, and devotion. Every detail in this painting reflects sacred symbolism, cultural heritage, and refined craftsmanship. This artwork is not only a powerful spiritual object but also a valuable collectible piece of Himalayan holy art.
This Paubha is ideal for:
Meditation and prayer spaces
Home or altar decoration
Collectors of Buddhist and Himalayan art
Meaningful spiritual gifts for prosperity and good fortune
