Tsongkhapa was a renowned Tibetan Master who devoted his life to locating and studying all the Indian Buddhist classics available in Tibet at the time. He is often depicted wearing a tall yellow hat and is the center of the Gelugpa sect, which was dominant in Tibet until the Chinese takeover in 1951. The Dalai Lama is the de facto leader of this sect.
