To make the valley habitable, Manjushree carved a gorge at Chovar, allowing the water to drain out. The lotus flower settled at Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, and the valley transformed into a livable space, marking a significant event in the valley's history.

The form of Manjushree, with one face and two arms, is one of the most popular in Tibetan Buddhism. In this form, he holds a sword of wisdom in his right hand and a book of teachings in his left hand.
