This is an original old Tibetan Thangka painting depicting the Pancha Buddha, also known as the Five Dhyani Buddhas or Five Wisdom Tathagatas. The painting has been oil-varnished, a traditional method used to protect older Thangkas and preserve their colors and surface.
The Five Dhyani Buddhas represent the five enlightened qualities of Shakyamuni Buddha. They are central figures in Vajrayana Buddhism and symbolize the transformation of ignorance into wisdom. Each Buddha rules a sacred direction and embodies a unique aspect of enlightened awareness.
The five Buddhas shown in this Thangka are:
Vairochana – Center – Wisdom of the ultimate truth
Akshobhya – East – Mirror-like wisdom
Ratnasambhava – South – Wisdom of equality
Amitabha – West – Discriminating wisdom
Amoghasiddhi – North – All-accomplishing wisdom
Together, they represent the complete path to enlightenment. Because of this, Pancha Buddha Thangkas are widely used in meditation rooms, monasteries, and personal altars.
In Nepali and Tibetan Buddhism, a complete spiritual collection is considered incomplete without the Five Dhyani Buddhas. This makes this Thangka not only a sacred artwork but also an important spiritual object.
This is a hand-painted original, not a print or reproduction. Ideal for meditation, altar display, or collectors of authentic Himalayan Buddhist art.
