Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) Thangka | Bodhisattva of Compassion | Hand-Painted Tibetan Buddhist Art

This original hand-painted Thangka depicts Avalokiteshvara, also known as Chenrezig in Tibetan — the embodiment of the enlightened compassion of all Buddhas.
He is regarded as the earthly incarnation of the celestial Buddha Amitabha and is venerated as the Patron Bodhisattva of Tibet.
Across all Buddhist traditions, Chenrezig symbolizes infinite mercy, endurance, and boundless love for all beings.

According to legend, Chenrezig vowed to remain in the world until every sentient being was freed from the cycle of suffering. Even if his body were to shatter into pieces, he promised to continue his compassionate work — and from this vow, his thousand-armed form later emerged.

His mantra, “Om Mani Padme Hum”, meaning “The Jewel is in the Lotus”, is one of the most recognized mantras in the world, representing universal compassion and enlightenment.

🌸 Gestures and Attributes

Upper Left Hand: Holds a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening — rising unstained from the mud of samsara.

Every element — from the serene expression to the delicate detailing — reflects spiritual depth and artistic mastery.
