Manjushri / Jampelyang Hand-Painted Tibetan Thangka – Wisdom Bodhisattva Art
This is an original, high-quality hand-painted Tibetan Thangka of Manjushri (Manjushree / Jampelyang), beautifully bordered with traditional silk brocade. Painted on handmade cotton canvas using gold and natural pigments, this piece is both a sacred artwork and a meaningful meditation tool.
About Manjushri
Manjushri is the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, representing the clear insight that sees the true nature of reality. He helps practitioners distinguish between what is helpful and what is harmful on the spiritual path. He brings intelligence, deep understanding, memory, eloquence, and mastery of the teachings.
His name means “gentle glory,” and he is especially honored in Nepal, where he is believed to have drained the ancient lake of the Kathmandu Valley by cutting open the gorge at Chovar. He is also the patron Bodhisattva of the Kadampa (Gelugpa) school of Tibetan Buddhism, known for its great scholars.
Gesture & Iconography
Left Hand – Vitarka Mudra:
The gesture of teaching and debate. This hand holds a lotus stem that supports the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the scripture of Perfect Wisdom.
Right Hand – Flaming Sword:
This sword cuts through ignorance, which is the root of all suffering. It represents the courage and effort needed to achieve true freedom.
Every detail in the painting—his posture, expression, lotus, and sword—symbolizes wisdom, clarity, and inner transformation.
