As meditation deepens, the elephant slowly turns white, showing purity and control. The monkey stands for distraction and wandering thoughts. The monk represents the meditator, learning to guide the mind with patience and effort.

As the stages progress, the elephant becomes calm, and the monkey loses its power. In the final stage, the monk rises into the open sky. This shows deep peace, clarity, and realization of emptiness.
