Vajravarahi Dorje Phagmo Thangka Hand Painted Tibetan Buddhist Art Old Oil Varnished
This is an original, hand-painted Tibetan Thangka showing Vajravarahi, also known as Dorje Phagmo. She represents full enlightenment in female form and is an influential figure in Vajrayana Buddhism.
Vajravarahi is closely linked to the Chakrasamvara tantra and is especially honored in the Kagyu tradition. Her practice is known to help remove obstacles, clear negative energy, and protect the practitioner. Many people use her image for deep meditation and inner transformation.
In this painting, Vajravarahi holds a ritual knife in her right hand and a skull cup in her left. A khatvanga staff rests in her arm. She dances in a sacred posture over a human form, showing victory over ignorance. The small sow’s head beside her face symbolizes the defeat of confusion and ego.
This is an old Thangka finished with traditional oil varnish. Oil varnish protects the surface and gives the painting a deep, rich glow. It also increases durability, following old Himalayan practice.
Every detail is painted by hand with devotion and care. This Thangka is both a sacred object and a strong spiritual presence for any space.
