This is an original hand-painted Yellow Jambhala (also known as Kuber) Tibetan Thangka painting framed with high-quality silk brocade. Jambhala is recognized as the God of Wealth and is believed to bless those who practice the Dharma with a pure heart. His blessings are said to eliminate poverty, attract abundance, and provide practitioners with the support needed to progress on their spiritual path.
According to Buddhist Sutras, Jambhala once protected Buddha Shakyamuni from the attacks of demons during a teaching. Impressed by his courage, the Buddha appointed him as a Dharma Protector. Since then, Jambhala is believed to help anyone who calls his name or recites his mantra.
In this Thangka, Yellow Jambhala is shown seated on a throne, wearing a crown, silk garments, and jeweled ornaments. He holds a Bijapuraka fruit in his right hand, a symbol of wealth, and a mongoose in his left hand. The mongoose spits out precious jewels, showing Jambhala’s power to give wealth and overcome negativity.
Other Forms of Jambhala
This Thangka features the yellow form, but Buddhist scriptures describe four additional Jambhalas, each with a special meaning:
White Jambhala – Born from Avalokiteshvara’s right eye. He protects beings from suffering and bad karma and brings wealth and peace.
Black Jambhala – A form of Buddha Akshobhya. He grants wishes, wealth, and happiness and is also connected to the Hindu god Kubera.
Red Jambhala – A form of Vajrasattva. He brings protection, wealth, and good reputation.
Green Jambhala – A form of Amoghasiddhi Buddha. He protects against bad luck, theft, obstacles, and financial loss.
All five forms help remove poverty — both material and spiritual — and guide beings toward generosity, wisdom, and success.
