This is an original, hand-painted Tibetan Thangka of Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara, also known as Chenrezig or Chyangresi. He is the Bodhisattva of Compassion and one of the most loved figures in all Buddhist traditions.

Chenrezig represents the compassion of all Buddhas. He is seen as the earthly form of Buddha Amitabha and the protector of our world between the time of Buddha Shakyamuni and the future Buddha Maitreya. He is the patron Bodhisattva of Tibet and is closely linked to the mantra “OM MANI PADME HUM.”

In this painting, Chenrezig appears with four arms. His two main hands are held at his heart, holding the wish-fulfilling jewel. This jewel stands for enlightenment and the power to help all beings. His right upper hand holds a crystal rosary, indicating his endless compassion. His upper left hand holds a lotus flower, symbolizing purity rising above suffering.

A deer’s skin rests over his shoulder, showing renunciation and deep compassion. It also recalls the story of Chenrezig taking rebirth as a deer to help others, even at the cost of his own life.

This Thangka is painted on handmade cotton canvas using natural stone colors, gold dust, and water-based pigments. Every detail is carefully painted by hand using traditional Himalayan methods.
