This is an original, hand-painted Tibetan Thangka of Manjushri Bodhisattva, framed in silk brocade. The Manjushri is a Bodhisattva and is considered a "GOD OF DIVINE WISDOM." It is believed that worshiping Manjusri brings wisdom and intelligence. In Tibetan Buddhism, Manjusri manifests in several different Tantric forms.

According to the Swayambhu Purana, the Kathmandu Valley was once a lake. Legend has it that Manjusri, a revered Buddhist deity, saw a lotus flower in the center of the lake and decided to drain it by cutting a gorge at Chovar. The water drained out, leaving behind a fertile valley suitable for human habitation. The lotus flower that Manjusri saw eventually became the Swayambhunath Stupa, one of Nepal's most sacred Buddhist sites.

Manjushree manifests in various Tantric forms in Tibetan Buddhism, each with unique symbolism and meaning. One of the most popular forms is the Manjushree, with one face and two arms, who holds a sword of wisdom in his right hand and a book of teachings in his left hand.

According to the Swayambhu Purana, a sacred text in Nepalese Buddhism, the Kathmandu Valley was once a vast lake that was not habitable. It is believed that Manjushree, being the God of Wisdom, saw a lotus flower growing at the center of the lake, which symbolizes enlightenment, purity, and divinity. To make the valley habitable, Manjushree cut a gorge at Chovar, which allowed the water to drain out of the valley. The lotus flower settled at Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, and the valley became habitable.

This exquisite hand-painted Tibetan Thangka is a visually stunning artwork with profound spiritual significance. It represents the divine wisdom and intelligence embodied by the Manjushree Bodhisattva.
