This original hand-painted masterpiece represents the Eight Medicine Buddha Tibetan Thangka Painting. As a unique art, it exemplifies the finest in Buddhist artistry. Bhaisajyaguru, also known as the Medicine Buddha, is the central figure in this painting and plays an essential role in healing rituals, invoking the spiritual power of the healing Buddha, as well as in prayers and offerings. His images can be found in various Buddhist monasteries across China, Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia, and Buryatia, as well as on Tibetan painting scrolls (Thangkas) and gilt bronze figures.

The seated images of the Buddha of healing are the most famous in Tibetan paintings. These images are well-established iconographic patterns incorporated into Mongolian and Buryat Buddhist art.

Numerous functions and iconography of the Medicine Buddha are present in various relevant Tibetan medical texts. In seated images, the healing Buddha holds the healing fruit, myrobalan, in his right hand and a bowl of Amrit (the nectar of immortality and divine healing nectar) in his left hand, symbolizing his healing power.

Myrobalan, known in Tibetan clinical medicine as the universal treatment, is considered to be able to cure all diseases. The standard depiction in Tibetan traditional art is the Healing Buddha and his brothers, known as The Eight Medicine Buddhas or The Eight Buddha Brothers, which is the most common in Tibetan healing traditions.

The worship of the Eight Healing Buddhas is not just a practice but a shared tradition that unites the Tibetan Buddhist community, transcending geographical boundaries and cultural differences.

The Eight Healing Buddhas are described as follows:
1. Sangs-rgyas mTshan legs-par yongs bsgrags dpal (Sky: Buddha Suparikirtitanamashri) - His body is golden in color.
2. Sgra-dbyangs kyi rgyal-po (Sky: Buddha Svaraghosa) - His body is yellow.
3. Sangs-rgyas gser-bsang dri-med rin-chen snangs=gser-bzang dri-med (Skt: Buddha Suvarnabhadra vimalaratnaprabhasa) - His body is golden.
4. Sangs-rgyas mya-ngan med mchog dpal=mya-ngan med mchog dpal (Skt: Buddha Ashokattamashri) - His body is white-red in color.
5. Sangs-rgyas chos bsgrags rgya-mtsho'i dbyangs=chos bsgrags rgya-mtsho'i dbyangs (Sky: Buddha Dharmakirtisagaraghosa) - His body is white and red. 6. mNgon mKyen rGyal-po (Skt: Buddha Abhijnaraja) - His body is coral in color.
7. Sangs-rgyas sMan gyi Vaidurya'i od kyi rgyal-po=sMan-po'i rgyal (Skt: Buddha Bhisajyaguru vaiduryaprabharaja) - His body is colored like Lapis Lazuli.
8. Sangs-rgyas dpal rgyal-ba Sahkya thub-pa (Skt: Buddha Shrijing Shakyamuni) - His body is golden in color.

According to this text, Shakyamuni Buddha, one of the Eight Medicine Buddhas, assumes the 'Supreme Physician' or 'Supreme Healer' role. His traditional depiction above the head of the Medicine Buddha-Bhaisajyaguru serves as a beacon of inspiration and enlightenment for all.
