Original Hand-Painted Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka | Gautama Buddha | Tibetan Art with Silk Brocade Frame
This is an authentic hand-painted Shakyamuni (Gautama) Buddha Thangka, beautifully framed with premium silk brocade. Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha, is the Buddha of the present era and the root teacher of all Buddhist lineages.
Born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama in the Shakya kingdom (modern-day southern Nepal), he left behind royal luxury to seek the truth of suffering and the path to liberation. Through deep meditation, he attained complete enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree. His teachings continue to inspire millions worldwide.
🕉️ Iconography & Symbolism
In this Thangka, the Buddha is shown in Bhumisparsha Mudra (earth-touching gesture):
His right hand touches the earth, calling it to witness his enlightenment and victory over Mara, the lord of illusion.
His left hand rests in his lap in Dhyana Mudra, symbolizing deep meditation and inner stillness.
The begging bowl in his hand represents the nectar of wisdom and triumph over the three poisons: ignorance, attachment, and aversion.
This moment captures the exact instant of his awakening — “Buddha Shakyamuni Conquering the Demons.”
