This is an original masterpiece of a gold and white Manjushri Tibetan Thangka painting. White Manjushri represents the bodhisattva Manjushri, highly revered in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism as the embodiment of wisdom and learning. Although the white form of Manjushri is not as commonly depicted as the more frequent orange or golden versions, it holds significant meaning, emphasizing themes of pacification, clarity, and purity of wisdom.
### Characteristics of White Manjushri:
**Color and Attributes:**
- His body is white, symbolizing purity and the alleviation of ignorance.
- He wields a flaming sword of wisdom in his right hand, which cleaves through ignorance and duality.
- In his left hand, he holds the *Prajnaparamita Sutra* (Perfection of Wisdom) close to his heart, representing deep insight.
**Posture:**
- He is typically shown seated in a lotus position, embodying a state of meditative equilibrium.
- Alternatively, he can be depicted in a relaxed, regal manner.
**Symbolism:**
White Manjushri is associated with practices that cultivate wisdom, mental clarity, and the ability to perceive reality accurately.
- He is called upon in meditation and prayer to dispel mental obstructions and foster spiritual development.
**Mantra:**
A frequently recited mantra associated with White Manjushri is "Om Ah Ra Pa Tsa Na Dhi." This mantra is believed to bolster intellectual abilities and deepen wisdom.
