About Guru Padmasambhava
In the 8th century, Guru Padmasambhava was invited to Tibet by King Trisong Detsen and the Indian master Shantarakshita to help establish Buddhism in the Himalayan region.
According to Tibetan tradition, powerful local spirits and obstacles prevented the construction of Tibet’s first monastery. Guru Rinpoche subdued these forces through wisdom and spiritual mastery, binding them by oath to protect the Dharma.
