This is a large, original hand-painted Wheel of Life (Bhavacakra) Thangka, created on handmade cotton canvas with natural pigments and gold highlights. Measuring 26 x 36 inches (68 x 93 cm), this masterpiece serves as both a sacred meditation tool and a detailed teaching device that illustrates the essence of the Buddha’s teachings on Samsara and liberation.

About the Wheel of Life (Bhavacakra)
The Wheel of Life, also called Bhavacakra, is one of the most important visual tools in Tibetan Buddhism. It represents the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, showing how beings are trapped in Samsara through ignorance, attachment, and anger, and how liberation is possible through the Dharma.

At the center of the wheel, three animals represent the “Three Poisons”: the pig (ignorance), the snake (anger), and the bird (attachment).

The inner ring shows the law of karma—positive and negative actions and their consequences.

The six realms of existence are depicted: gods, demigods, humans, animals, hungry ghosts, and hell beings. Each realm shows the joys and sufferings of life in Samsara.

The outer rim illustrates the twelve links of dependent origination, symbolizing how karma and ignorance keep beings bound to cyclic existence.

The wheel is held by Yama, the Lord of Death, symbolizing impermanence.

Above the wheel, the Buddha points toward the sky of liberation, showing that freedom from Samsara is possible.
