This is an original hand-painted Tibetan Thangka of Jambhala, also known as Kubera or Yellow Dzambhala, the Buddhist deity of wealth and prosperity. His blessings are believed to remove poverty and create the conditions needed for spiritual practice and personal growth.
In Buddhist teachings, wealth is not only material but also spiritual. Dzambhala helps practitioners overcome obstacles so they can focus their time and energy on cultivating wisdom and compassion.
According to tradition, when demons tried to disturb the teachings of Gautama Buddha, Dzambhala appeared and protected the Buddha. Impressed by his courage, the Buddha asked him to become a Dharma protector who would assist all beings who call upon him or recite his mantra. Since then, Dzambhala has been honored as a powerful deity who brings prosperity, good fortune, long life, wisdom, and success.
Symbolism and Attributes
Five Forms of Dzambhala
Dzambhala appears in five forms: yellow, white, black, green, and red. Among these, the yellow form is the most widely practiced and recognized.
Royal Appearance
Yellow Dzambhala is shown wearing a crown and silk garments decorated with gold and precious jewels. His royal posture represents abundance and authority over wealth.
Citron Fruit
In his right hand, he holds a bijapuraka (citron fruit), a symbol of prosperity, longevity, and good fortune.
Mongoose of Treasures
In his left hand, he holds a mongoose that continuously releases jewels and treasures. This symbolizes victory over the nagas, the serpent spirits believed to guard hidden wealth.
