This is an original hand-painted Tibetan Thangka of Jambhala, also known as Yellow Dzambhala or Kubera. This striking black-and-gold composition creates a bold contrast, giving the artwork a rich and powerful presence.
Dzambhala is the deity of wealth and prosperity in Buddhist tradition. His blessings are believed to remove poverty, attract abundance, and create the right conditions for spiritual growth. Wealth here is not only material—it also supports a stable and focused spiritual life.
According to tradition, when Gautama Buddha was teaching, negative forces tried to disturb him. Dzambhala appeared and protected the Buddha. Because of this act, he was asked to become a Dharma protector who helps all beings overcome obstacles and hardship.
Symbolism and Attributes
Five Forms of Dzambhala
Dzambhala appears in five forms—yellow, white, black, green, and red. The yellow form is the most widely practiced and is linked with prosperity and generosity.
Royal Form
He is shown seated like a king, wearing a crown, silk garments, and rich ornaments. This reflects his role as the guardian of wealth.
Citron Fruit (Bijapuraka)
Held in his right hand, it symbolizes abundance, long life, and prosperity.
Mongoose of Treasures
In his left hand, he holds a mongoose that releases jewels endlessly. This represents victory over the nagas and the sharing of wealth with all beings.
Black & Gold Style
The dark background highlights the gold details, symbolizing wealth emerging from emptiness and wisdom shining through darkness.
